frequently asked questions 

does my nanny have a DBS?

Of course! All of our northern nannies have a full enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) certificate that is also registered with the update service.
They are also required to have a paediatric first aid certificate, and relevant childcare qualifications and experience.
Furthering this, all of our nannies have ongoing training through our own Early Years Practitioner Course.

do i have to become an employer to have a nanny?

We’ve taken the pleasure for you! More-over just introducing you to your nanny, we take care of your nanny for you.
All northern nannies are contracted to the Northern Nanny Limited, and provide our services to you as an extension of us. 

how will i pay my nanny?

We pay your nanny for you! By signing up to a subscription with the northern nanny, your hours are pre-paid. This means we pay your nanny directly. Removing the need for awkward conversations about pay and money with your Northern Nanny!

how do i pay for my nanny?

Northern nanny hours can be bought in blocks of 4 hours. Signing up to a monthly subscription can help reduce the cost – the more you buy; the more you get!

Each plan* is created bespoke around the needs of your family. At the time your payment plan is set up you can opt to pay weekly or 4 weekly for your nanny hours!

*does not include the ‘Date Night’ subscription.

is my nanny insured?

Yes! We insist all of our nannies carry the right insurance to work within your homes and with your children. This includes relevant business cover for the use of any vehicle used during their time working for you.

what about holidays/ cancellations?

Going on holiday? No problem, we ask that you let us know as far in advance as reasonably possible. This allows us to find alternate work/ bookings for your nanny should you no longer require their time.

Bookings cancelled within 48 hours are liable to pay 50% of the booking fee. Bookings cancelled within 24 hours are liable to pay the full cost of booking.

Are you Ofsted registered?

We are not currently Ofsted registered. Legally nannies are not required to be Ofsted registered but can do so voluntarily. We are currently working with our nannies to figure out the best way to get our company/ team registered.

can we use our childcare vouchers?

Unfortunately we do not currently accept childare vouchers/ 30 free hour childcare places.

what if i run out of hours?

Not a problem! We can always top them up for you. We review your usage every 3 months. If you are using regular top ups we may suggest a review of your subscription.

Equally, if you are not using all of your hours we will prompt you to use them and let you know when we have special events/ offers available.

cover nanny? i don't want a stranger in my house?

If your regular nanny is unable to work we will always send you a cover nanny.

Currently as a small team we try to ensure you have the opportunity to meet everyone. This can be done at our monthly networking events for families and friends of the Northern Nanny. Your chance to mingle and get to know our childcare providers.

In the event that we are unable to introduce you to your nanny, we will always send you their details (complete with headshot and contact information) via email.
